Pa’ia
Pa’ia was once a booming sugar cane plantation town and is now a quaint little beach town with an array of award wining restaurants, boutiques, surf shops, bakeries, art galleries, and organic grocery stores.
Ho‘okipa Beach Park
Best known for it’s surfing and windsurfing, Ho’okipa Beach Park is arguably the most renowned windsurfing site in the world. The waves here are largest during the winter and break across a system of reefs that extend across the bay. Ho’okipa is ideal for windsurfing because of its large well-shaped waves and strong winds. While ever-present strong winds and powerful currents do not make the beach a place for beginners, experienced surfers and windsurfers flock to Ho’okipa for recreation and for windsurfing competitions.
Kanaha beach park
Kanaha beach park is a section of coastline with four major beaches, punctuated by rock jetties and headlands and streams. It is one of the premier kitesurfing and windsurfing beaches in the world. A swim, a picnic in the shade of the tall trees lining the beach, or a game of beach volleyball can be enjoyed as well.
Kite Beach
Kite beach consists of Pro-beach and Action Beach. The two beaches combined are referred to as “Kite Beach.” Ka’a Point (Pro Beach) is one of the best known kiteboarding beaches in the world. Featured in many kiteboarding magazines and videos, the protected cove allows the riders to come close to the beach and give photographers a close view of the action. Just downwind from Ka’a Point is Action Beach which is home to kite schools as well as beginner and intermediate kiters. There’s a nice area on Pro Beach by the lifeguard hut that’s safe from kiters and a good place to go for a swim or set up your picnic blanket and umbrella.
Kahului
Kahului is the biggest town on Maui and hosts Maui’s main airport, most likely the one you will be flying in and out of. It’s about 15 minutes (by car) from Sprecks Plantation House and the home to many shops, malls, restaurants and a few tourist attractions including the Sugar Museum.
